Exciting News from and Archaeological Dig in Jerusalem
Archaeologists excavating in the heart of ancient Jerusalem have begun to uncover the neighborhood that housed the elite 2,000 years ago – most probably kohanim, the priestly ruling class.
One extraordinary find unearthed during the dig was 13 Murex sea-snail shells.
This is not the first time that Murex shells have been found in Jerusalem excavations. The important questions are: How did these sea-snails make their way up to the mountains of Jerusalem, and for what purpose?
